Welcome everyone, to Suzanne M. Henseler Quidnessett Elementary School.
SMHQES is a high performing K-5 elementary School in North Kingstown. We are both a Feinstein School and a Title One school. SMHQES serves approximately 300 eager and energetic students.
The philosophy of SMHQES, or Quid, as we are affectionately known, is to cultivate a school community that embraces families and community into our school. Parents look forward to quarterly “Have lunch with your child” luncheons sponsored by our Family Center, as well as numerous family nights sponsored by grade level teams and our PTO. We encourage community members to meld into our daily life as well by participating in such activities as student mentoring, literacy and library volunteers.
During the year, students experience a wealth of programs and activities that reach far beyond the curriculum to expand the horizons and broaden the experiences
of our students. For example, musically, Grade Five students participate in band and strings, as well as joining Grades 3 and 4 in chorus.
Quid is famous for its After-School Play, which is now in its 14th year. Performances have included, Alice in Wonderland, Wonka, Aladdin, Annie and many more. This year we are proudly presenting Peter Pan.
The focus on Wellness and Athletics is strong at Quid as well. After-school intramurals and fitness programs are offered. Quidnessett participates in the Free Fruit and Vegetable Program which ensures our students enjoy a variety of fresh fruit and veggies snacks each day. We are committed to ensuring a healthy and active lifestyle for every student while they are in school.
Quidnessett provides a rigorous curriculum, enriching after-school programs, a focus on health and wellness, and a nurturing and caring environment that enables our children to learn and grow into respectful, responsible and caring individuals. We encourage you to come to Quid and share in the joy we share with each other every day.
We hope you will visit us in person or, if not, please browse our teachers’ web pages.
